Meet Joe Campoli, the retired men’s basketball coach at Ohio Northern University. Mark got to know Coach as a freshman at ONU. It has been a true joy partnering with Joe in his retirment, just as he spent his coaching career partnering with his players, preparing them for success on the basketball court and success in life.
Joe’s story takes him from his days as a young boy, his parents having emigrated to New York from Italy, to finding success playing basketball in high school and college, and inspired by his own high school coach, pursuing a career teaching and coaching.
Although Joe’s career had him rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bobby Knight, Mike Kryschevsky, and Villanova’s Rollie Massimino, Joe has always remained humble and unassuming, giving credit for his success to his assistant coaches, his players, and of course his life partner Margaret whom he lost to cancer only a few years after retirement.
