Michael Loveless Finding Joy in Daily Life

What should our clients and friends know about you?

I am a life-long Columbus native and have seen the city grow and change in so many ways over the years. My wife, Michelle, also a life-long Columbus native, and I have been married nearly 33 years. And while the city has changed a lot in our lifetimes, so have we. Married in our mid-twenties, we have both grown and our relationship deepened over time.

While we don’t have children, we have had a lot of pets over the years. Currently we only have one, our 18-year-old cat Bugsy. He runs the show and gets all our attention! Over the course of our 33 years, we’ve had 6 cats and 4 dogs, including 2 rescued greyhounds.

About a year ago, we decided to get out of the home ownership business, so we sold our home and moved to an apartment. I can say that we are enjoying the reduced stress and additional free time! I enjoy spending my newfound free time reading, listening to music, trying new cocktail recipes and spending time with friends.

I do love animals, domesticated and wild, so one drawback to no longer owning a home is not having a yard to feed and watch birds, track migrating bird species, and feed all my squirrel buddies. Fortunately, there is a park near our apartment so I can go there and watch the birds and feed peanuts to the squirrels.

A current project of mine is building my vinyl record collection. I lost all my original collection many years ago in a flooded basement, so rebuilding (and listening to) my collection is something I am enjoying!

For future projects, I’m hoping someday soon to learn to play the mandolin. I just love the sound of the instrument and would love to be able to collaborate with my wife, who plays violin! I also want to learn to speak Italian.

What do you love most about The Joseph Group?

For me, the friendly and supportive nature of The Joseph Group is one of the things that makes working here so meaningful. As a newer member of the TJG team, I quickly noticed the difference. Everyone is genuinely helpful and friendly, supporting not only newer members of the team but veteran members as well. If you need help, it’s there. If you need support, it’s there. Both professionally and personally. TJG is a nurturing place, one where everyone can thrive, contribute, and be their best self.

I came to TJG with a passion for customer service and helping others. In my role on the Service Excellence Team, I have the opportunity each day to help clients live their best life. I love working with our clients, getting to know them and their dreams!

So often, TJG team members are willing to step up and help at a moment’s notice. Like Theresa LeChard who recently stepped in for another team member who had to be out unexpectedly. Theresa stepped in and met with visiting clients to review and notarize some critical documents. Or Lori Fiske, our Client Concierge, who is never too busy to stop and help out a team member or greet clients. She handles everything with great care and grace!

At TJG, this type of behavior is not unique, it’s the norm. We all live the TJG values of Integrity, Teamwork, Humility, Excellence, and Enthusiasm. This translates into a strong and supportive work community where we care for each other, both personally and professionally, in support of our clients.

What does a great life mean to you?

A great life to me is family and friends. Spending time with my wife and our cat, Bugsy, is a joy that I am thankful for each and every day.

Being able to bring a smile to a friend or coworker’s face, is so gratifying and uplifting to me. Helping a stranger with a smile or kind gesture makes life rewarding. As Dolly Parton once said; “If you see someone without a smile today, give ’em yours.”

A great life is, in part, the basics. A comfortable life with a roof over my head and good, fresh food to eat is a blessing, one that I do not take for granted.

Helping animals has always been a priority. Whether adopting a pet from a local shelter or saving wildlife, I find peace in helping animals in need.

Good health for me, my wife, pets and family and friends.

My work in the Service Excellence Team here at The Joseph Group adds to my great life by allowing me to serve our clients each day. Getting to know our clients and learning about them and their lives is such a rewarding part of the job!

I feel that to live a great life, one must be able to find joy in all aspects of daily life, even the mundane. It’s easy to get down about certain things in life, but if we stop for a moment and look at what we have and who we have in our life, it’s easy to find solace and happiness in all that we do.

A great life is about taking it all in and appreciating every moment, every experience. As Ferris Bueller said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
