If I had to describe my life by a painting I would pick, Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette by Renoir; savoring spare time with friends and family. My son and I spend time together on a walking path, thrift store or daily chats on the phone. I am privileged to live close to my parents who will celebrate 68 years of marriage this summer. We spend Sundays and week-nights churching, brunching, reviewing the NYTimes, playing cards and conversing. My parents’ positive outlook is fiercely contagious – and I treasure whatever time I can spend with them. My sister lives in Cincinnati along with her extended family. We frequent the I-71 pavement and fortunate to have tight family ties. I have moved 26 times in my life throughout OH, FL, AL, CT & NY. I would say my gypset life has a long playlist of favorite songs and like most people will associate a certain song with a place and time that can take me instantly back to amazing memories while creating new ones. I love my music! I grew up in a house filled with singing, lots of albums spinning and my mom playing the piano every night. I play several instruments but would not call myself accomplished. I tend to forget how loud the volume is when I’m driving until I see someone staring at me at a red light (ooops). If we were to play “Would You Rather”… I would rather take a road trip than be jet set, meet face to face over engage on social media, repurpose over buying new, nibble on charcuteries and snacks verses three meals a day, plan a party rather than be a guest, have someone cook for me versus cook or bake for myself.
I really love working for The Joseph Group. It is refreshing to work with a company who truly cares about their clients and team. I recently read how companies should not view colleagues as a “work family.” While I can see how that may align in some environments, it does not hold true in our culture. Our Leaders are admired and our team values our company values. I witness our team living out the same values outside of work. So, it’s easy to view my team as my “work family” with open communication, care, trust and support! It’s impressive to onboard new talent, learn from their fresh perspectives and rewarding to see so many of them advance in their Joseph Group roles. Our clients may be guided by an Advisor, but our entire team is invested in helping them. Our team continuously strives to improve and we’re growing at a healthy pace. We are fortunate to have Leaders who take dedicated time to help us find our ideal path.
A great life to me is to discern and appreciate everyday things and happenings that could easily be taken for granted but in many cases a collection of miracles… it makes every day a holiday!
