What should our clients and friends know about you?

My wife Lily and I are the proud parents of our two children, Evelyn and Lucas. Our family has lived in Clintonville for the past 10 years, but I’ve been a Columbus resident for my entire life. I grew up on the near east side of town, where my parents still live today, as one of five children. I am the second youngest of the five and the only son! Two of my sisters are in town, while two are out of town, in the Pittsburgh and Baltimore areas respectively.  We make a point to gather annually, often in state parks where we can hike and swim.

My immediate family enjoys traveling, most recently a trip to Banff National Park in Canada (highly recommended!) as well as an annual trip to Saugatuck, MI with family friends.

The best time is spent with my family, so if we are not traveling, I can be found coaching my children’s sports teams, volunteering at their school, or simply hanging around the house.

I believe any additional free time should be spent on the golf course, which I do my best to abide by. A highlight of each year is an annual golf trip with 11 friends, often heading north to enjoy the golf of northern Michigan. We are in year 12 of our trip with no plans to stop!

What do you love most about The Joseph Group?

I have the unique opportunity to support our clients as they pursue their goals and dreams. It is incredibly rewarding to “tell” a client they can retire, or take the trip they’ve dreamed of, or donate to a cause or organization they support.

I will never forget meeting with a couple (now clients) that were searching for financial guidance with the goal of retiring as soon as possible. One of the clients was so eager to retire that he had a countdown app on his phone that was updated daily, inching closer towards his goal. At the time of the meeting, his counter was at 1,000+ days. By the end of the meeting, I confidently shared that he could retire immediately based on their years of saving and living within their means. They did the hard work; I simply had the joy of sharing they made it.

Our team has countless stories like the one shared above. Each and every team member of The Joseph Group is committed to supporting both our clients and each other. There is genuine camaraderie and friendship between employees that we believe is unique. I appreciate working at a firm that is aligned in its purpose, with a group of employees that support one another and celebrate each other’s success.

What does a great life mean to you?

A great life is one surrounded by the people that you care for and that care for you. That certainly starts with my family. They provide me with purpose, which I believe is paramount to living a great life.

Each day, along with my wife Lily, I look forward to spending time with my children, working as a team to raise them. They bring joy (and frustration!) that is irreplaceable. I treasure our shared life experiences and want to continue making new memories.

Along with my family, I find purpose in the work I do with my clients. I believe my work has value, and the help I provide my clients can meaningfully impact their happiness.

But I also believe a great life requires balance. I strive for – and have – a comfortable work life balance. I work to live, rather than live to work. This allows me time to maintain social connections with friends, another part of a great life. As life gets busy with work and family obligations, it becomes increasingly important to make time to preserve friendships. Simple dinner dates, card nights, weekend getaways, and holiday celebrations are all opportunities to spend time with friends.

My great life is simply having the time and ability to be with the people I care about and take part in the activities that bring me joy.
