As the summer season wraps up, we want to give a huge thank-you to our interns—Brayden Primmer, Luke Kandel, and Ella Huelskamp. Over the last three months, Brayden and Luke expanded their wealth advisory skills across multiple teams, while Ella supported Matt Palmer and Michelle O’Brien on key marketing projects. Here is a look back at their journey with The Joseph Group:

Brayden Primmer

My name is Brayden Primmer and I will be a senior this fall at Mount Vernon Nazarene University studying Business Administration with a minor in Financial Planning. During my time here at The Joseph Group, I got to see how all parts of the firm work together. I worked with the Client Service, Wealth Advisory, Investment Management, and Retirement Planning teams. I enjoyed spending time with each group and got to see how they uniquely serve clients. This included participating in client review preparation as well as sitting in on client meetings with each advisor. After meetings, I was able to work on the topics discussed and push them forward.  I enjoyed being able to connect topics that I have been learning in school to how they are implemented in the real world.

Another way that I was impacted by my time here was working in a culture of like-minded people who have a true passion for serving their clients and each other well. It was amazing to be a part of a faith-friendly firm that acts with such servant-heartedness. This experience has affirmed my desire to pursue a career in financial planning. The people that I got to work alongside are incredible, and I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity to join them for the summer!

Luke Kandel

My name is Luke Kandel. I am a student at The University of Akron majoring in Financial Planning and had the amazing opportunity of being a Wealth Advisory Intern at The Joseph Group this summer! Throughout my time at TJG, I had the privilege of being a part of many different teams, including the Investment, Compliance, Retirement Plan Services, Wealth Advisory, and Service Excellence teams this summer. This allowed me to understand each of the moving parts of the business, and how each person at The Joseph Group serves their clients well!

I also got to experience the financial planning side of the business! This gave me the opportunity to prepare and witness client meetings from multiple different perspectives from each advisor at The Joseph Group. Throughout my time here, I was able to see financial planning concepts that I have learned in school truly come to life for clients! This internship has reaffirmed my love for financial planning and has allowed me to see the financial planning process done in a faithful environment. My favorite part of the internship; however, was being with the people here at TJG. Every person I had the pleasure of interacting with was always kind, selfless, and servant-hearted.

I cannot thank the team enough for their welcomeness and care presented throughout my time here at TJG!

Ella Huelskamp

Hi! I’m Ella Huelskamp and I was the Marketing Intern for The Joseph Group this summer! Next month I will be starting my senior year at Ohio University where I’ve been studying Multimedia and Marketing. I feel so honored to have been a part of The Joseph Group even if it was only for a few months. It is truly a workplace like no other, with a team like no other. I started my time here excited to gain more experience in the field I was interested in, and little did I know I’d gain much more than that. I’ve gained friends, insights on financial advising, mentorship, and an appreciation for a faith-friendly firm.

Matt Palmer and Michelle O’Brien were an amazing team to work with on all things marketing. They gave me the freedom and support to pursue several different projects during my time here. Those being new business cards, sticker designs, social media video series, new LinkedIn and Facebook banner designs, creating a LinkedIn Ad, and shooting photos and videos for the new website. Having been able to dip into all of my passions: design, photography, videography, and marketing has made this a dream internship experience for me, as well as being welcomed into a culture like The Joseph Group’s. The people here are helpful, kind, compassionate, and extremely selfless. They care for their clients and team members like they are family, and it’s made it all that much harder for this experience to have to end.

Summer 2026 is one I’ll never forget. I worked my first full-time in-person marketing internship. I experienced living in Columbus for the first time. I checked off several restaurants and coffee shops I always wanted to try. I made new friends in the city and put myself out there. I was also able to put more time into my wedding videography business and create films I’m proud of. I look forward to whatever the future holds, and I am blessed to have been given the internship experience of a lifetime.
