To Inspire:

Next week, Christians all over the world will be celebrating the birth of Christ. A remarkable and often overlooked part of the story is Mary’s consent to be His mother. When the angel, Gabriel, shares with her God’s plan, she gives her consent: “I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to thy word.”

What humility and what trust?! A teenage girl 2000 years ago in a small town in the hill country of Judah says YES to become the mother of Jesus Christ! And from that YES, the course of human history was changed.

Is there a YES you are being invited to give – one that could change the direction of your life or those you love? Perhaps a YES to forgiving someone that has hurt you. Perhaps a YES to investing in a person or a cause for which you care deeply. Perhaps a YES to making a significant change in your own life – to live with greater faith, hope, and love.

When we say YES to life giving opportunities like those, we bring so much joy into our lives and the lives of others. We become instruments of change – for the better.

In this season, when God gives us His greatest gift and Mary enables it with her YES, let’s imitate her with our own YES. In doing so, we can change human history as well.
