To Inspire:

I attended Mass this morning at St. Mary Church in German Village, not far from our offices. It happened to be a school Mass, meaning all the K-8 students were in attendance as well. I sat in the back and had several hundred children in front of me – what a beautiful sight!

It got me thinking about all the children that live in this nation. It’s a challenging time to bring up children – so many things we want to shelter them from. But protecting them is not enough. Let’s encourage the children in our lives – by spending time with them, listening to them and nurturing their hearts and minds. Let’s set a good example for them by our words and our actions, modeling for them the kind of adult we hope they will become. When they see us smiling, loving, and helping others, they will take on those same practices in their lives. What an opportunity and what a privilege!

But let’s not forget that they provide a model for us to emulate. Their childlike wonder at everything around them, their innocence and carefree trust – in God, their parents, and others around them in authority. And their desire and ability to learn, play and celebrate all that life offers each day. What a great example children can be for all of us!!

Children are such a blessing and add so much joy to our lives. Let’s be great examples for them and let’s allow them to be great examples for us!
