Blessing of Friendships

To Inspire:
Mark and I recently had breakfast with 15 guys from our high school class. One of the guys was in town visiting from Texas so we all got together to see him. We all had a great time – and the years seemed to evaporate as we told stories and caught up on each others lives.
And then this morning I had breakfast with another long time friend that I have not spent much time with in the last 10 years. He and his wife will be moving to Israel later this year to volunteer for a ministry that is helping Jewish families dislocated from their homes as a result of the war in Gaza. Again, the bonds of friendship were reignited and we had a great time catching up.
These two get togethers have me thinking about the blessing of friendships, especially long-time friendships. There is really nothing quite like them – to have people in our lives for whom the years apart hardly matter. People who we love unconditionally and who love us the same way.
Many of our clients have entered retirement or are close to doing so. This provides a great opportunity to reconnect with those special people in our lives and inject a lot of joy into our lives.
Who are two or three people in your life that you’d like to reach out to and begin a new phase of your friendship? Perhaps getting together (in person or even by Zoom) every month or two would add much to your great life and theirs.
Friendships – cultivate them and they will be a rich blessing in your life!
“A strong friendship doesn’t need daily conversation, doesn’t always need togetherness, as long as the relationship lives in the heart, true friends will never part.”
